Tony Guízar

José Antonio Jaurena Guízar (Also known as Tony Guízar) is a Mechanical Engineering student at Iowa State University, building on a strong academic foundation from Des Moines Area Community College. He has demonstrated consistent leadership, serving as President of the International Student Club, Vice President of the STEM Club, and Scholarship Vice President of Phi Theta Kappa, while also participating in the Honors Program, Student Activities Council, and Future Business Leaders of America. At Iowa State, Antonio is expanding his research experience in the Biorenewables Research Laboratory, where he investigates anaerobic digestion systems and their applications in sustainable energy. He is also a Ronald E. McNair Scholar, preparing for graduate-level study and research.

Antonio’s long-term goal is to develop innovative mass public transportation systems that integrate multiple engineering disciplines to achieve environmental sustainability and economic accessibility. His achievements have been recognized through honors such as the Dean’s List, President’s List, Phi Theta Kappa Outstanding Student Leader Award, IINSPIRE-LSAMP Scholarship, and recognition as a Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Transfer Scholarship Semifinalist.
