Directions & Visitor Information

BEI is located in the Biorenewables Research Laboratory (BRL) on the west side of the Iowa State University campus. It is part of the Biorenewables Complex.

The main entrance is on the south side of the building via the Sukup Atrium in the center of the complex. The main entrance to the atrium is on the east. During office hours, you can also enter the BRL via its northwest entrance (entrances marked by green pins).

Visitors to BEI often tour the BioCentury Research Farm, located at 1327 U Avenue, Boone, Iowa, just off of Highway 30 west of Ames. See directions to the BCRF


If you are visiting someone in the BRL and have been told you will receive a parking pass, you can park in the reserved spots in Lot 6 (red pin) west of Sukup Hall. Also, there are a limited number of metered parking spots in Lot 9 (red pin) northwest of the complex. See nearby parking lots (at Iowa State’s Facilities Planning and Management site)

Bus Service

Iowa State University is served by CyRide, the city of Ames bus service. There is a CyRide stop east of the Biorenewables Complex on Bissell Road. See route map.

Bike Racks

Ample bike racks are located on the northwest corner and on the south side of the Biorenewables Complex.

Internet Access
