George Washington Carver Prize for Outstanding Student Achievement in Biorenewables

We are happy to announce that the Bioeconomy Institute and the Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO) have created the $5000 George Washington Carver Prize for Outstanding Student Achievement in Biorenewables, to recognize the research contributions of a student in the BRT graduate program.
 
Any BEI affiliated faculty members can consider nominating any student who has made notable achievements in biorenewables and who has been officially enrolled in the BRT graduate program for a minimum of two semesters. Nomination guidelines are attached. The award recipient will be recognized at the BIO World Congress in Chicago (April 2008) and the 2008 Growing the Bioeconomy Conference at Iowa State University (September 2008).

Imagining Iowa Public Scholarship Grants

 

As part of the Imagining America public scholarship initiative, the Center for Excellence in the Arts and Humanties (CEAH) is launching an exploration for "Imagining Iowa," focusing on the current public interest in biorenewable fuels in the state and the greater Midwest.

This CEAH/LAS call for proposals encourages scholarly activity that focuses on "Imagining Iowa" in the emerging bioeconomy, which features scholarly and creative work jointly planned and carried out by university and community partners.

Deadlines:

October 1, 2007 for preliminary proposals

February 1, 2008 for full proposals
