Biorenewable Resources and Technology graduate students now have the opportunity to participate in two new international graduate exchange programs that focus on biorenewable resources. The first is the two-week Intensive Exchange Program, which is taught by international experts. The second is the more involved six-month Academic Exchange Program, which allows students to work on long-term research projects while taking courses abroad.
In April 2005, five BRT students and five ISU professors traveled to Toulouse, France. The professors taught lectures there with other international experts on the subject of "Renewable Biomaterials," and the students took 30 hours of coursework and completed a final examination for academic credit. In January 2006, six students and five professors went to Ghent, Belgium, and several students took part in the Academic Exchange Program.
The international programs are currently being offered through a partnership involving the University of Arkansas, Iowa State University, University of Washington, University of Ghent (Belgium), University of Graz (Austria), and the National Polytechnic Institute of Toulouse (France).
